Kay lives in Florida’s capital city, Tallahassee, where she retired in 2006 after over three decades of public service for the State of Florida as a research and policy analyst, grants writer, and systems administrator. She has 15 years of experience investing in real estate, focusing on creative financing and tax-deferred exchanges that enable investors to reduce taxable income while establishing a retirement income stream. In 2010 she realized a lifetime dream of owning her investing in her own deluxe mountain cabin near the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. She has partnered with the developer of Cabins of Birch Hollow to share the 10 luxury vacation rental cabins and this beautiful, natural wilderness with the families and entire groups for meetings, retreats, and training – offering guests an experience to inspire, restore and re-connect with nature. Since owning and enjoying her cabin, she has discovered how unprepared she is to actually live off the land in the event of a national crisis – and how critically important it is for everyone to learn survival skills so that we can all be prepared to survive and thrive.
